Subject: It's been a while between drinks
Well hello folks,
So here is, 9th September 2002.....2 days before the anniversary of Sept
11th. I am sitting here remembering writing an email to you all about the
impact that had on me. I want to just start this email saying wherever you
are in this world, remember to say hello to those you love as you never know
how long it will be before you have the chance to say hello again.
On that note, I want to say a BIG hello to everyone I treasure......you lot.
I can not believe how quickly time is flying past.....it feels like only
yesterday I was spending my very first xmas abroad and now another one is
just around the corner. I have finished work for the day, I can not look
at figures for another minute so here I am giving you a Kristy update .
I am unbelievably excited at the moment because in just 12 sleeps myself
and 8 very good friends of mine are heading to clubbers paradise, my mecca
so to speak.....IBIZA, the party island. Someone said to me the other day
"Kristy, when are you going to grow up and stop partying" The
answer...........not just yet, I am having way too much fun. Myself and
Karen ( my gorgeous friend from Scotland) and the crew are flying out on Sep
21st and arrive in Ibiza just after midnite.....I figure that is just enough
time to check in to our hotel and make our way to the "Amnesia" closing
party. Given the fact that most these clubs charge £20 - £30 entry on the
door, we are going to select the quality closing parties and spend the rest
of the time chilling out in the sun. As it is raining here in London today,
the sunshine is something I am definitely looking forward too.
Over the past few weekends I have :
Spent a day at Brighton, the English Beach experience not to be missed.
There is no sand, only pebbles (which provided an interesting back massage)
but it was 32 degrees and time to have a dip in the water.......wasn't bad I
have to say. Brighton is a FAB spot, Louise and I were smart and got there
early as by 2pm the place was packed. Highlight of the day: I saw a guy
dressed in true english beach attire....yep socks and sandals.....QUALITY!!!
The following weekend was Bank Holiday. We had a house guest for the
weekend, Rossmoyne High's very own REZA. This guy is a trip!! Came equipped
with the latest SONY toys and even a magazine article featuring SONYs very
own robo-dog personal physician......Reza, you ROCK! Took Reza out to
Camden for a spot of shopping and Freak spotting. We actually managed to
see a punk with every possible bit of skin on his face tattooed &
pierced.....what a muppet, I mean can you imagine him walking through an
airport?
Sunday and my first impression of Notting Hill Carnival was "Why are all
these people walking around so aimlessly" You only have to turn the corner
to discover the thousands of people following the street parade, dancing in
the street, dancing (hanging) from the windows from the houses above and
people basically just pushing and shoving to get in on the action to answer
that question. Everyone has seen the movie Notting Hill and unfortunately
by the time carnival is in full swing, it kinda loses that swanky feel, it
just becomes ONE BIG DAY OUT. After walking, dancing and drinking all day,
we took Reza to see 2 of his favourite Brazilian DJ's who were doing a gig
after carnival and it was a blinder.
Also went to Bath for the day. A complete last minute idea which saw us
miss the coach and get the departure train station wrong, but we got there
in the end. Such a pretty place, jammed full of tourists including myself
and English friend Andrew. We spent the day walking around, taking happy
snaps as you do and then found ourselves in a gorgeous little pub drinking
wine in the sunshine before heading back to London and off the the Fridge
for a night of clubbing. It was a wicked night, got in for free, free
drinks all evening.....brilliant.
The weekend just gone was another one I will always remember. As Katharine
& Sarge (flatmates) are in Greece at the moment, we have a house guest,
Goochie...Sarge's friend from Melbourne. Dinky-di tru-blu and completely
hysterical. He invited Louise and I to a friend's 30th B'day bash which was
a private river cruise up and down the Thames. We took our own vodka on
board and once the boat returned to Westminster Pier, decided to kick on to
the B'day boys house for an after party. What was waiting for us as we
turned the corner, 2 stretch limo's equipped with bubbly if you dont
mind....NICE ONE!!! After spending the night in my favourite city on board a
boat I then toured around in a stretch! Back to the party and what do you
know, all drinks provided. I guess you only turn 30 once hey but I dread to
think how much that cost the b'day boy. Back to ours for a chillout and I
finally got to bed at 8am.
I have been working at Insight Investment since July and am leaving here to
go to Ibiza. My contract was only to 27th Sep so I have brought it forward
a week to enable me to be in the thick of the closing party week. I am very
much hoping to land another job soon after I return as London and squeeze in
a trip to Switerland or Sweden (or Spain) - not fussy for my birthday. I
will only be at the email address until the 20th September so please direct
all emails to my hotmail address after that.
mailto:[email protected]
Please take care and I'll be seeing you all again soon.
